Wind Power

arrow

Our school faces Pacific Ocean and receives abundant seasonal winds in the summer and winter, sometimes from typhoons. The local average wind speed is 3.1~3.3m/s. In the summertime, there are usually 42.34 hours of sunshine, and 23.28 hours in the winter. The highest temperature in the past three years was 28.9J in the last August (2009), the lowest 17.1J in the February of 2008.

Because of the rich resources from wind and sunshine, apart from our wind power system, we also follow the governments photovoltaic (PV) power project, which can provide 3.68KW power to our campus. The two systems will be the best examples when we teach our students how energies can be recycled and reused. We hope the two power systems can effectively lower our energy consumption and exemplify our power-saving & carbon-reduction policy.

Such policy not only requires daily recycling and energy saving, but also actively applies new power systems (by wind and PV). We also hope power-saving & carbon-reduction can be deeply rooted in students life and walk into local communities and every family.
