Lucao Primary School

Peopleˇ¦s civilization and technology rely heavily on constant consumption of limited resources and energy. Manˇ¦s ambition also takes the Earth to the edge of over-development and over-consumption. For this reason, it is time we take practical approaches to save energy and recycle resources.

In recent years, the government has begun to realize the urgency of power saving and carbon reduction. Green awareness also begins to emerge in peopleˇ¦s daily life. Schools should take up the responsibility to sow green seeds in our kids teaching them the importance of energy saving.

Our school is determined to cut energy consumption and has seen some progress in power saving. For example, before leaving a classroom, students remind each other to turn off the light. Water used for mopping is recycled to irrigate the plants. In the summer time, we also decide to use electric fans rather than air conditioners in the offices. All school lighting has been changed into power-saving fluorescent lights. Taps and toilet flushing were equipped with water-saving devices. We even planted more trees and greened the ground, so as to lower the accumulation of heat.

Our sustainable campus project is based on energy reuse. Since last September, we have put energy education on the top of our to-do list and every member of the school should support this green policy. In addition, we used photovoltaic solar panels as a part of our teaching aids. We held a couple of workshops on green energy and arranged some activities for our students to have a better understanding of energy conversion. We hoped they would appreciate these green efforts and understand the importance of energy saving. At last, we hoped students would bring what they had learned at school into their family and, further, into their local communities.
