To further the result of the 2012 Sustainable Campus Project, our school continues to work on energy saving design and managing and monitoring plan, installing permeable pavements as well as enhancing the indoor environment on campus. We stand on the principles of participating, deepening and active learning when developing relative courses, teaching activities, and improving campus facility in hope of promoting the concept and practice of sustainable campus.
1. Sunshade painting
On October 30th and 31st in 2013, we had 340 faculty and students coming together and painting the sunshades on campus, e.g., those in the hallways, gardens, walkways, etc. Students carefully dressed up the sunshades in various colors with spray paints under the instructions of teachers and administrative staff. This activity turned out to be a fond memory for our students and also helped them understand how sunshades could improve the indoor environment.
2. Publishing sustainable campus learning manuals (for students of different ages)
Based on students!| learning abilities, we published learning manuals as another resource for students!| self-learning activities and a reference for teachers| teaching.
3. Decorating a Learning Corridor for sustainable campus
On the 3rd floor of the Teaching and Administration Building, a Learning Corridor gas been crated. Cardboards explaining the concept and the implementation of the Sustainable Campus Project with simple languages and pictures have been placed in the corridor. Children can explore and engage in self-learning activities when walking through.
4. Corresponding curriculum and teaching activities
There are four main learning topics this year that go hand in hand with the school curriculum and teaching activities. These topics include The Sustainable Santan!‥, !§I am the governor, the biggest reservoir-our land and improving the interior by installing sunshades. Teachers can use spare time to engage students in these teaching activities as well as bringing the concepts into regular curriculum. When students participate in the designed activities, they can understand the benefit of setting up sustainable facility on campus. We hope by keeping track of the activities engaged prior to and following the setup of sustainable facility on campus and result of the practice of teaching models, the benefits of becoming a sustainable campus can be well received.
5. Teacher!|s in-service training seminar
Teaching Workshop was held on August 28th, 2013. Teachers!| Seminar on Sustainable Campus was held on November 13th, 2013. The two activities aimed to deepen the knowledge of sustainable campus for the entire faculty by providing lectures, tours, and discussions.
6. Promoting the Sustainable Campus Project
We take full use of multiple occasions to promote the idea of sustainable campus, such as parent-teacher conferences, volunteer meetings, parent council meetings and school anniversary. We also invite parents, individuals, associated institution, and faculty of other schools to visit the school and exchange experience.
