From the perspective of environmental education, the Tungshan Elementary School believes that schools and other education venues should be safe, healthy, and energy-saving places for learning. School environmental education can be implemented by using school facilities and incorporating real-life issues into the curriculum to help students develop the ability to adapt to future conditions and take on environmental challenges. Last but not least, the environmental planning, design, and construction of the school should be developed according to concepts of environmental sustainability.
As a result, the Tungshan Elementary School wants to achieve the following goals in the Sustainable Campus Partial Renovation Project:
1. Improving and building a safe, healthy, and energy-saving school environment.
2. Implementing environmental renovation based on the school!|s educational viewpoints and needs.
3. Providing opportunities for resource integration and developing systemic and school-based environmental teaching materials.
4. Enriching school environmental education resources and becoming a community environmental education center.
For the next 3 years, the school principal has made a commitment to combining environmental renovation and environmental education courses to develop the school as a base for promoting and demonstrating sustainable campus education.
The school will collaborate with its teachers and staff, community residents, experts, and consultants to review the campus environment. Then, according to the environmental features of Tungshan as well as the current state of the school!|s education and campus activities, the school will develop an environmental planning blueprint for the 2015!V2017 academic year to transform the school into a base promoting sustainability and education.
