This project comprises three stages. In the first stage, an energy-saving facility will be installed to improve the school environment. In the second stage, indoor air circulation and public area lighting will be improved. In the third stage, community development will be integrated to build an organic vegetable garden to promote the reduction of fertilizer use and chemical pollution.
Water in the fish and lotus pond beside the farm will travel through a filtration system to remove fish feces. Nitrification will also occur. Then, the generated nutrient-rich water will be used for watering vegetables in the farm. Plant roots in the garden will absorb nutrients from the water and release the water back to the fishpond, creating a balanced, chemical-free ecosystem. This is one of our goals for building a natural and sustainable school environment.
