Guo-Yi Elementary School
!
Our sustainable campus project is aimed to take the campus as an epitome of the whole ecology and to integrate the local characteristics into our education. Through these eco courses, we hope, our students can have a better understanding of the wide variety of nature. Sustainability, therefore, is expected to grow on the campus and then go into students’ daily life.
Guo-Yi was granted funding for the 2004-2005 sustainable campus project and has seen remarkable progress in recent years. We focus our project mainly on eco education combining the courses with an eco-friendly learning environment.
Our Principal Lu, Yu-Jin (呂郁靜) was transferred to our school from Da-Jhu Elementary School (大竹國小) in 2008. She believes she can transfer her experience in sustainable development to Guo-Yi. Besides, the best thing about Guo-Yi is that there is a school farm allowing students to chill out and approach nature. With the help of our eco education, when students explore the campus, they also walk into our sustainable campus project.
Though most students come from farming families, only a few of them have real farming experience. Therefore, we come up with the “Interactive Farm” on the campus. We plan to turn our campus into a big farm integrating ecology into education. Moreover, we hope this project can be applicable not just to our campus but also to our allies. All five of us can together create a new and innovative campus.
